Privacy Policy for ToneQuest

ToneQuest is a Thai tone learning app published by Daan Henderson under the Daanville name.
This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you use ToneQuest.

2. Overview
ToneQuest is designed as a privacy-conscious learning app.
ToneQuest does not require a user account. The app does not show ads and does not use analytics, Firebase, Crashlytics, Sentry, or similar tracking or crash reporting services.
ToneQuest does not ask you to provide your name, email address, phone number, precise location, photos, contacts, or microphone recordings.
The app stores learning-related information locally on your device. ToneQuest also uses Apple App Store, Google Play, and RevenueCat to handle and validate the one-time lifetime unlock purchase.
3. Local Data Stored on Your Device
ToneQuest stores certain app data locally on your device so the app can remember your progress and settings.
This may include:
- lesson progress
- quiz statistics
- trophies and achievements
- app settings
- onboarding and tutorial state
- locally cached purchase entitlement state
This data is stored locally on your device using local storage technologies such as SQLite and shared preferences.
We do not receive your local learning progress, quiz statistics, trophies, settings, or onboarding state unless you choose to send information to us, for example in a support request.
You can remove locally stored ToneQuest data by deleting the app from your device. Depending on your device and operating system, clearing app storage may also reset local app data.
4. Purchases and Lifetime Unlock
ToneQuest offers a one-time lifetime unlock purchase.
Purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not directly process or store your payment card details, store account details, billing address, tax information, refund information, or payment method information.
To manage purchase access, ToneQuest uses RevenueCat, a third-party service for in-app purchase validation and entitlement management.
RevenueCat, Apple, and Google may process information related to your purchase and entitlement status. This may include pseudonymous customer or app identifiers, purchase status, purchase history, transaction information, diagnostics, and related technical data needed to validate, manage, and restore purchases.
This processing is necessary to provide the lifetime unlock, restore purchases, prevent purchase-related errors, and keep paid access working across supported devices and reinstallations where technically possible.
5. RevenueCat App User ID
ToneQuest does not use an account system and does not use your email address as a RevenueCat user identifier.
RevenueCat may use an anonymous or pseudonymous app user identifier to manage purchase entitlements. This identifier is used to connect purchase status with the app installation or user entitlement state. It is not intended to identify you by name.
6. Audio and Text-to-Speech
ToneQuest plays Thai learning audio included with the app and may use your device's built-in text-to-speech functionality for Thai pronunciation.
ToneQuest does not record your voice and does not use the microphone.
If microphone, speech recognition, or voice recording features are added in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated before those features are released.
7. No Advertising and No Tracking
ToneQuest does not show third-party advertising.
ToneQuest does not use advertising identifiers for ad targeting and does not sell user data.
ToneQuest does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies for advertising or marketing purposes.

If you contact us for support, we may process the information you choose to provide.
This may include your email address, your message, device information, operating system version, app version, screenshots, purchase-related information, or other details needed to understand and respond to your request.
We use this information only to respond to your request, troubleshoot issues, handle follow-up communication, and maintain appropriate support records.
9. Third-Party Services
ToneQuest may use the following third-party services:
- Apple App Store, for iOS app distribution, purchases, refunds, family sharing behavior, taxes, and store account/payment handling;
- Google Play, for Android app distribution, purchases, refunds, taxes, and store account/payment handling;
- RevenueCat, for purchase validation and entitlement management.
These services may process data according to their own privacy policies and platform rules.
10. Legal Basis for Processing
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the legal bases for processing personal data may include:
- performance of a contract, where processing is necessary to provide the app, the lifetime unlock, purchase validation, and purchase restoration;
- legitimate interests, where processing is necessary for app security, troubleshooting, support, and basic service operation;
- legal obligation, where processing is necessary to comply with applicable legal requirements;
- consent, where required by law or platform rules.
11. Data Retention
Local learning data remains on your device until you delete the app, clear app storage, or reset the relevant in-app data if such a feature is available.
Purchase and entitlement data handled by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat may be retained as needed to provide purchase validation, restore purchases, prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations, and maintain transaction records.
Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to answer your request, handle follow-up questions, and maintain appropriate business records.
12. Children
ToneQuest is a general language learning app and is not specifically directed to children.
If ToneQuest is later marketed specifically to children or included in children's or families programs, we will review and update our privacy practices and disclosures accordingly.
13. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data, such as the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing.
Because ToneQuest does not use accounts, we may not be able to identify a user from app data alone. For purchase-related requests, we may need information that helps locate the relevant purchase or RevenueCat customer record, such as an app user identifier, platform information, or store transaction information.
